TheUkrainian Canadian Students’ Union (Ukrainian:Cоюз Українськoгo Студентства Канади (CУСК),French:Union des Étudiants Ukrainiens Canadiens), commonly known by its Ukrainian acronym,SUSK, in all three languages, is a nationalstudent organization composed of Ukrainian Students Organizations (USOs) atpost-secondary institutions across Canada.
SUSK is a national member of theUkrainian Canadian Congress.[1]
Formed in 1953 inWinnipeg, Manitoba, SUSK was active in Canadianpost-secondary institutions for five decades before falling inactive in 2002.[2] It was revived at the XXII Congress of Ukrainian Canadians held in Winnipeg, in October 2007.[3][4]Student is the official publication of SUSK, having been published since 1968.[5]
SUSK hosts its national convention, SUSK Congress, at different locations each year. The first Congress was held inWinnipeg, Manitoba in 1953.[6] Since 2007, the Congress has been held annually,[7] with the 2020 and 2021 events being hosted online. The most recent Congress was held inEdmonton, Alberta in 2022.[2]
During the month of May 2021, SUSK launched a National Campaign titled "Russian Aggression Awareness Month" and has expanded its activism since the2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.
