TheS7 is a railway service of theSt. Gallen S-Bahn that provides half-hourly service betweenRomanshorn andRorschach, with hourly service from Romanshorn toWeinfelden. Some trains continue fromRorschach toSt. Margrethen,Bregenz (Vorarlberg,Austria) andLindau (Bavaria,Germany) along the shores ofLake Constance (Bodensee). The line is also part of theBodensee S-Bahn.[4]

Thurbo, a joint venture ofSwiss Federal Railways and thecanton of Thurgau, operates the service.

Operations

The S7 operates half-hourly over theLake line betweenRomanshorn andRorschach. It is the only service on that section of the line. Every other train operates over theWinterthur–Romanshorn line between Romanshorn andWeinfelden, stopping only atAmriswil. TheS10 makes local stops over the line. As of December 2024[update], three trains operate on weekdays between Romanshorn andLindau-Insel (Germany) viaBregenz (Austria); on weekends, this rises to one train every two hours.[5] In Austria and Germany, the S7 operates as aRegionalexpress (REX7).[6]

History

With the December 2021 timetable change, the Romanshorn–Rorschach trains were extended every two hours, on Saturdays and Sundays only, around the southern coast ofLake Constance toBregenz andLindau.[7] Beginning on 10 December 2023, three Romanshorn–Lindau trains operated on weekdays.[8][9] With the 2024 timetable change, the route was extended toLindau-Insel.[10]
