S-18986 is apositive allosteric modulator of theAMPA receptor related tocyclothiazide. It hasnootropic andneuroprotective effects in animal studies, and induces both production ofBDNF andAMPA-mediated release ofnoradrenaline andacetylcholine in thehippocampus andfrontal cortex of the brain.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10]
