Sébastien Vahaamahina (born 21 October 1991) is a Frenchrugby union player ofWallisian origin from theFrench-administered South Pacificoverseas collectivity ofNew Caledonia.

Vahaamahina's position isLock and in 2014 played forClermont Auvergne[1] in theTop 14.[2] He began his career inNew Caledonia and after moving to France, played withBrive before moving toPerpignan from 2011 to 2014. He was called up forFrance for the2012 autumn internationals.

Born to parents from the Wallis and Futuna Polynesian community inNoumea,[3] Vahaamahina began his rugby career in New Caledonia, in the South Pacific before moving to mainland France.

International career

Vahaamahina represented France in the2019 Rugby World Cup and scored his first try in the quarter-final against Wales, but wassent off after elbowing Welsh playerAaron Wainwright in the head. Wales went on to win the match by a scoreline of 20-19.[4][5] The day after the match he announced he would retire from international rugby.[6]
