TheRyūkyū national football team is a team representing theRyukyuan people of theRyukyu Islands, an archipelago underJapanese rule. It is not affiliated withFIFA or theAFC, and therefore cannot compete for theFIFA World Cup or theAFC Asian Cup.[1][2]
The Ryūkyū Football Association is the football association of Ryukyu.[3] It was founded inOkinawa City in 2014.[4]
They competed in the2018 CONIFA World Football Cup qualification, losing 9–0 to theUnited Koreans in Japan.[5]
