Therufous monarch (Symposiachrus rubiensis), orrufous monarch flycatcher, is a species ofbird in the familyMonarchidae found in westernNew Guinea.Its naturalhabitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowlandforests.
The rufous monarch was originally described in the genusTchitrea. The species was later reclassified inMonarcha for many years. In 2016, theIUCN Red List andBirdLife International reclassified it intoSymposiachrus, and theInternational Ornithological Congress followed suit in 2022.[2][3]
