Rosemarie Allen is anAmerican academic who specializes indiversity,equity, andinclusion. She is anassociate professor ofearly childhood development at theMetropolitan State University of Denver and president andchief executive officer for the Institute forRacial Equity and Excellence.[1][2]
Allen was raised inSouth-Central Los Angeles,California.[3][4] She completed herB.A. fromCalifornia State University, Long Beach. Allen earned aMaster of Education fromLesley University and aDoctor of Education in Equity andLeadership in Education at theUniversity of Colorado Denver.[5]
Allen's works specialize in early childhood development,diversity, equity, and inclusion.[3] She has authored three children's books on diversity. Allen served in directorship roles with theColorado Department of Human Services as the director of the division of early learning and in youth corrections.[6][7] Allen joined the faculty atMetropolitan State University of Denver in 2004 and is an associate professor of early childhood education.[6] She is the president and CEO for the Institute for Racial Equity and Excellence,[3] a nonprofit organization which licenses child care providers in three counties inColorado.[8]
