Roscommon–Galway is aparliamentary constituency that has been represented inDáil Éireann, the lower house of the Irish parliament orOireachtas, from the2016 general election. The constituency elects three deputies (Teachtaí Dála, commonly known as TDs) on the system ofproportional representation by means of thesingle transferable vote (PR-STV).

History and boundaries

The constituency was established by theElectoral (Amendment) (Dáil Constituencies) Act 2013 and first used at the2016 election.[1]

The Constituency Review Report 2023 of theElectoral Commission recommended that at thenext general election, the boundary of Roscommon–Galway be altered with the transfer of territory fromSligo–Leitrim and the transfer of territory toGalway East.[2]

TheElectoral (Amendment) Act 2023 defines the constituency as:[3]

"The county of Roscommon;and the county of Galway except the part thereof which is comprised in the constituencies of Galway East and Galway West."
