Roost was an American /New American restaurant inPortland, Oregon.[1][2] Megan Henzel was the chef and owner.[3][4]

Description

The American[5] /New American restaurant Roost operated at the intersection of 14th Avenue and Belmont Street insoutheast Portland'sBuckman neighborhood.[6][7] It was described as having a "stark" decor and had a large "R" logo on one of its windows.[8] The eatery had a seating capacity of approximately 43 people.[9]

Menu

Portland Monthly said the restaurant offered a "classic,New England style of comfort food, but with modern touches and a flavorful boost from regional ingredients".[10] The menu included cod cakes withpoached eggs,dillsour cream, andsautéed spinach, as well asricotta pancakes with bacon, berries, andmaple syrup.[3] The restaurant also served smokedtrout,[11] cornfritters,[12]zucchini fries,[13]skirt steak,stews,cauliflower and potatogratin, and an upscale version of asloppy joe (braised beef incaul fat, served on an open-faced bun withwatercress,aioli,horseradish, andjus).[10] Thebrunch menu includedsteak and eggs.[14]

The restaurant opened in September 2010.[15][16] It closed in October 2018[4] and was replaced byFarm Spirit.[17]
