Ron Husmann (born June 30, 1937) is a retiredAmerican actor who primarily acted inmusicals. In 1961, he was nominated for aTony Award and won aTheatre World Award for his performance in the original production ofTenderloin.
Born inRockford, Illinois, Husmann graduated fromNorthwestern University in 1959. He made hisBroadway debut inFiorello! in November 1959.[1] In October 1960 he appeared on Broadway inTenderloin, garnering aTony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Musical and winning theTheatre World Award for his performance.[2]
Additional Broadway credits includeAll-American (1962),Lovely Ladies, Kind Gentlemen (1970),On the Town (revival, 1971),Irene (1973), andCan-Can (1981).[3]
Husmann made his film debut in the 1965melodramaLove Has Many Faces.[4] Most of his screen credits have been ontelevision. One of his first was a co-starring role in the unaired 1965 ABC television pilotTwo's Company starringMarlo Thomas. He has appeared in the daytimesoapsGeneral Hospital andDays of Our Lives, as well as suchprimetime series asDr. Kildare,Land of the Giants,Get Smart,The F.B.I.,Archie Bunker's Place, andCheers.
He appeared in the 1972 telecast ofOnce Upon a Mattress withCarol Burnett.[5]
Husmann is the author, narrator, and co-producer of the ten-hour video seriesBroadway! A History of the Musical.[6]
He retired from performing after being stricken withParkinsons Disease.[7]
