TheRomania national cricket team represents the country ofRomania ininternational cricket.Cricket was played in Romania between 1893 and 1930. In recent years the game has begun to grow again, particularly inBucharest,Timișoara andCluj-Napoca. In July 2010, they played in a EuropeanTwenty20 tournament which was held inSkopje,Macedonia. On 29 June 2013, Romania was granted affiliate status by theInternational Cricket Council (ICC) and are therefore entitled to participate in ICC official events.[5] In 2017, they became anassociate member.[1]
As in a number of European countries, the game is dominated by expatriates from traditional cricket-playing nations in theIndian subcontinent and theCommonwealth of Nations. Themain ground of the team for national and international matches is atMoara Vlăsiei, 26 km (16 miles) away from the Bucharest city centre. It was built between 2011 and 2013 and is the only turf cricket ground inCentral and Eastern Europe.
Romania won the2021 Sofia Twenty20 cup, where they defeatedBulgaria in the final.[6] They have been gaining prominence in the European cricket scene, with their performances improving in recent seasons.
In April 2018, the ICC decided to grant fullTwenty20 International (T20I) status to all its members. Therefore, allTwenty20 matches played between Romania and otherICC members after 1 January 2019 will be a full T20I.[7]
Romania played its first T20I match againstAustria on 29 August 2019 during the2019 Continental Cup in Romania.[8]

Romania are scheduled to make their debut in an ICC event, when they take part in theEurope Qualifier tournament in 2021.[9]
