Rognan[3] is a village and theadministrative centre ofSaltdal Municipality inNordland county,Norway. The village is located at the head of theSaltdal Fjord (the innermost part of theSkjerstad Fjord). It is located about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) north of the village ofRøkland.[4]
The 2.54-square-kilometre (630-acre) village has a population (2023) of 2,600 and apopulation density of 1,024 inhabitants per square kilometre (2,650/sq mi).[1]
Local industry includes the optical cable factory of Nexans Norway and Hepro. TheNordland Line railway and theEuropean route E6 highway both pass through the village.Rognan Station is the local railway station.Rognan Airport only serves general aviation.Saltdal Church is located in this village.
Rognan gained national attention through a 2006 reality documentary television series called "Alt For Rognan" (Everything for Rognan).[5] The show aired onTV2, and followed a group of ten local men and their quest to create a live show on the cabaret and revue theatreChat Noir.
