Robin Haigh (born 1993 inLondon) is an Irish/British composer of contemporary classical music.
In 2017, Robin Haigh won aBASCA British Composer Award at the age of 24 for his recorder quintet,In Feyre Foreste.[1][2][3][4] His pieceZorthern features on theNMC Recordings label performed by Luke Carver Goss and theRoyal Northern Sinfonia.[5] In 2018, he was chosen to be a part of theLondon Symphony Orchestra's Soundhub scheme,[6][7] as well asPRS for Music's Accelerate scheme,[8][9] and theUniversity of Sheffield's workshop with the Ligeti Quartet.[10] In 2019 he was commissioned by theBritten Sinfonia to write a piece for chamber orchestra, supported by theWilliam Alwyn foundation.[11] In July 2019, he was announced as a 2019–20Royal Philharmonic Society composer, leading to a commission for the 2020Presteigne Festival.[12] He won anIvor Novello Award in the Chamber Orchestral category in 2020, and in 2021 was nominated in the Solo Works category. In 2022 he was voted joint-winner of the Composer Slam European Championship for his piece AESOP 2, which was performed inHanover by Orchester im Treppenhaus.[13] In October 2025 he received twoIvor Novello Award nominations for his piecesFILTH andLUCK.[14]
He studied composition atGoldsmiths, University of London and TheRoyal Academy of Music, with teachers includingDmitri Smirnov,Edmund Finnis, andDavid Sawer.[15]
