Robin Curtis (born 1955 or 1956[1]) is an American actress. She is best known for replacingKirstie Alley in the role ofVulcan LieutenantSaavik in the filmStar Trek III: The Search for Spock.[2][3][4][5]

Early years

Curtis is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Curtis;[6] her hometown isNew York Mills, New York.[1] She has two brothers.[7] In 1974 she graduated from New York Mills Union Free School,[6] where she acted in plays.[7] She graduated from theState University of New York at Oswego in 1978,[6] majoring in theater and communications.[1]

Career

Film

Curtis' first film wasGhost Story (1981). Next she starred as Vulcan Lieutenant Saavik inStar Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984).[3][8][4][5] Her performance in the film drew a mixed reception fromTrek fans.[2] ForThe Search for Spock, Curtis was paid$30,000.[9] She reprised the role of Saavik for a brief appearance inStar Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986).[10][11][12]

In the 1990s, Curtis was inHexed,[13]The Unborn 2,[14]Babyfever,Bloodfist VI: Ground Zero,[15]Hostile Intentions,[16]Dark Breed,[17]Santa with Muscles,[18]Recoil,Scorpio One,[19]The Sex Monster,[20][21] andMaking Contact.

In 2022, Curtis was cast in the horror filmAwaken the Reaper,[22][23] her first film role since 1999.[24]

Television

She co-starred in the 1983 episode "Short Notice" during the first season of theKnight Rider television series. Curtis guest starred as Company operative Ginger Brock inThe Equalizer, in the 1986 episode, "Dead Drop." In 1991, she portrayed Carol Pulaski on the soap operaGeneral Hospital. In 1993, she portrayed an unrelated Vulcan character disguised as a Romulan (Tallera/T'Paal) in the two-part episode ofStar Trek: The Next Generation titled "Gambit".[25][26][27] In theBabylon 5 episode "Deathwalker" (1994), she appeared asAbbai Ambassador Kalika.

Curtis also appeared in the television seriesDream On,Herman's Head,Night Court,MacGyver, andJohnny Bago. She starred in the made-for-TV moviesIn Love with an Older Woman,First Affair,Northstar,LBJ: The Early Years asJacqueline Kennedy,[28][29][30]Shootdown,[31] andTagteam.[32]

Stage and commercial work

Curtis has numerous stage credits in regional and national theatre, includingGyspy,Applause,Oliver!, and...And Other Songs in New York City. She performed inThe City Suiteoff Broadway and inGarden inLos Angeles. Her other work includesThe Nerd,The Man of La Mancha, andThe Apple Tree. She has also appeared in several television commercials andinfomercials.

Curtis made frequent appearances atStar Trek conventions starting in 1986[33][34] to the mid-1990s, but by 2014, she was appearing only occasionally. She became a residential real estate agent in 2004 and the following year debuted her one-woman show, a work-in-progress,Not My Bra, You Don't! – The Sexual Odyssey of a Forty-Nine-Year-Old Woman.[35]

Personal life

Curtis marriedKent Williams while meeting on the set ofThe New Mike Hammer. They divorced soon afterwards.[36]
