Robert Rygge (a.k.a.Rugge) (died 1410) was anEnglish medieval churchman, collegefellow, and universityChancellor, andarchdeacon ofBarnstaple inDevon.
Rygge was atExeter College, Oxford, later a Fellow ofMerton College, and four timesChancellor of theUniversity of Oxford between 1381 and 1392.[1] He was aDoctor of Divinity andCanon ofExeter.[2] Rygge was later theArchdeacon of Barnstaple from 1399 to 1400.[3]
There is some confusion about whether there was aWilliam Rygge (orRugge) as Chancellor of Oxford University in 1382, but it is likely that this was the same person as Robert Rygge.[2]
