Robert D. Drain (bornc. 1957) is a formerUnited States bankruptcy judge of theUnited States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York who has presided at several high-profile corporate bankruptcies.
Drain received a B.A. degreecum laude with honors in 1979 fromYale University and J.D. in 1984 fromColumbia University School of Law where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar for three years.[1]
He was a partner in the bankruptcy department of the New York firmPaul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison when he was appointed to be judge in 2002. He was also an adjunct professor of law atSt. John's University School of Law's LLM in Bankruptcy Program for several years and is an adjunct professor at thePace University School of Law.[1] He retired from the court in June 2022[2] and joined the Corporate Restructuring Group at the law firmSkadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.[3][4]
