Ritenbenck,Ritenbenk orRitenbench (Greenlandic:Appat) is a former settlement onAppat Island inAvannaatamunicipality in northwesternGreenland. The island is located in theUummannaq Fjord.
Ritenbenck was founded in 1755 by theGeneral Trade Company.[1] The name was an anagram of the GTC's then-chairmanChristian August Berckentin (1694–1758).[2]
