Hommersåk is a village inSandnes municipality inRogaland county,Norway. The village is located in the borough ofRiska in the northern part of the municipality. It is situated about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) northeast of the centre of thecity of Sandnes, along the shore of the Riskafjorden, an arm off the mainGandsfjorden.[3] The 2.28-square-kilometre (560-acre) village has a population (2019) of 6,425 and apopulation density of 2,818 inhabitants per square kilometre (7,300/sq mi).[1]
There are a few shops and a small shopping centre calledBryggen. There is also a sports centre with swimming facilities. The village and its surroundings are popular places for cottages and leisure boats among people from theStavanger/Sandnes area. There are two churches in the village:Riska Church and the historicOld Riska Church. The island ofUskjo lies just off the coast of Hommersåk to the north.[3]
Hommersåk has bus connections to thecity of Sandnes and boat connections to thecity of Stavanger, across the fjord.
The Riska Motorsykkelklubb organisemotorcycle trials and previouslymotorcycle speedway.[4] The speedwaybane held the final of theNorwegian Individual Speedway Championship in 1994, 1996, 1998, 2004, 2010 and 2014.[5]
