Risa Itō (Japanese:伊藤 理佐,Hepburn:Itō Risa, born 6 September 1969), also romanized asRisa Itou, is aJapanesemanga artist.
She was born in 1969 inHara Town,Suwa District inNagano Prefecture, the eldest of three sisters. She graduated from Suwa Futaba High School and studiedFormative Fine Arts atJoshibi University of Art and Design Junior College. She won the 2005Kodansha Manga Award forshōjo forOi Pītan!![1][2] and the 2006Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize Short Story Award forOne Woman, Two Cats,Oi Piitan!!, andOnna no Mado.[3] Her mangaOruchuban Ebichu ("Ebichu Minds the House") was adapted byGainax into ananime television series. Her latest work,Higepiyo (ヒゲぴよ), serialized inChorus magazine, was also adapted into ananime.[4]
