Iván Sánchez-Rico Soto (born 11 August 1980), known asRiki, is a Spanish formerfootballer who played as astriker.

He spent most of his professional career withDeportivo, appearing in 226 competitive games and scoring 58 goals.[1]

Real Madrid

Riki was born inAranjuez,Community of Madrid. After spending his youth career at amateur clubs in the area he played with bothReal Madrid's reserve sides,C andB.[2]

Riki's sole competitive appearance for the main squad occurred on 7 October 2003, as a latesubstitute forGuti in the 3–0 away win againstUD San Sebastián de los Reyes in theround of 64 of theCopa del Rey.[3][2]

Getafe

In July 2004, after having signed an extension the previous year,[4] Riki was released and joined another team from the capital,Getafe CF, for a300.000 fee.[2] He made hisLa Liga debut on 12 September, in a 1–2 home defeat toRCD Mallorca.[5]

On 13 March 2005, Riki scored against his former employers in a 2–1 home victory.[6] In hissecond season, he netted eight league goals.[7]

Deportivo

In late June 2006, Riki moved toDeportivo de La Coruña on a five-year contract.[8] He was an undisputed starter during hisfirst year and, thefollowing campaign, he featured less prominently but scored two more goals (five).[9]

In the first game of the2008–09 season, against Real Madrid, Riki was stretchered off the pitch with ahamstring injury, after having subbed in himself.[10] He was out of action for two weeks,[11] subsequently netting on 2 November 2008 in a 3–0 away defeat ofReal Betis.[12]

Riki again suffered physical problems in thefollowing season, but made the most of his 1,492 minutes as he scored eight goals, notably netting in the first round, a 3–2 loss at Real Madrid,[13] and in both matches againstXerez CD (3–0 away, 2–1 at home);[14][15] theGalicians eventually finished in tenth position.

After his team's relegation in2011, Riki scored 14 times as theybounced back as champions of the second division,[16][17] including early strikes in home and away victories overRC Celta de Vigo in theGalician derby.[18][19]

Later career

When Deportivo wereimmediately relegated, Riki ended his seven-year tenure to remain in the top flight atGranada CF for the next three seasons.[20] He did not score for theAndalusians until 14 December 2013 in a 2–0 win atRayo Vallecano,[21] and added only one more goal in a 3–3 draw on his return to Getafe.[22]

On 31 August 2015, the 35-year-old Riki dropped down two levels to sign a two-year deal atCD Guadalajara.[23] He left at the end ofthe campaign, however, having been relegated fromSegunda División B.[24]

International career

Riki was notcapped bySpain at any level. He played for theMadrid autonomous team on theirFootball Federation's centenary on 7 June 2013, scoring apenalty in a 2–1 loss toAndalusia inVallecas.[25]
