Richard Ofori (born 1 November 1993) is a Ghanaian professionalfootballer who play forAmaZulu FC of theSouth African Premier Division and theGhana national football team as agoalkeeper.

Club career

Ghana

Ofori spent a number of seasons with Westland FC (a second-division club in Accra) before he joined Wa Allstars ofWa, Ghana. He had continuously been linked with moves to South Africa or Europe after his highly praised performances in theGhanaian Premier League,[4] and went on trial withCape Town City in late 2016.[5] He was voted the best goalkeeper in the2015 season[6] and was instrumental in the All-Stars' clinching of their first-ever title in2016, again being voted the best goalkeeper.[7]

Maritzburg United

Ofori moved toPremier Soccer League clubMaritzburg United on a three-year contract in 2018.

Orlando Pirates

On 20 October 2020, Ofori signed a three-year contract withOrlando Pirates.[8] He played in the Orlando Pirates matches in the MTN 8 tournament. He started in goal in the final match as the Pirates won the trophy and ended their six-year trophy drought.[9] They beatBloemfontein Celtic 2–1 to win the trophy.[10]

AmaZulu FC

On 23 September 2024, Ofori joinsAmaZulu FC as a free agent.[11]

International career

Ofori played at the2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup, making one appearance in the third place match, keeping a clean sheet againstIraq.[12] He later appeared for theGhana U23, playing at the2015 African Games.[13]

He was first called up to thesenior national team for the2016 African Nations Championship qualification, where he played both legs against theIvory Coast. He was later called up by head coachAvram Grant for the2017 Africa Cup of Nations.[14] He is the second deputy captain of theGhana national football team.[15][16]
