Ricardo Gutierrez (born September 28, 1955) is an Americanactor,director, andteacher. He had a recurring role as Alderman Mata on the first season of theStarz Network drama seriesBoss.
Gutierrez studied atIllinois State University.[1]
Gutierrez has acted in performances atThe Goodman Theatre,Steppenwolf Theatre,Victory Gardens Theater,Lookingglass Theatre Company, andDenver Center Theater.[2] He is the formerartistic director of Glass Onion Theater,[3]Nosotros Theatre Company in Los Angeles and the Canterbury Theatre in Indiana.[4] He was the co-artistic director of Teatro Vista, a Latino theater company in Chicago, from August 2012 (a transition period for retiring founder Edward Torres),[4] then sole artistic director from March 2013[5] to September 2020.[6]
His directorial projects includeHow Long Will I Cry?: Voices of Youth Violence at Steppenwolf Theater,Quiara Alegría Hudes'sThe Happiest Song Plays Last at the Goodman Theatre, andKenny D'Aquila'sUnorganized Crime at the Teatro Vista.[7]
