Reyna René Reyes Stubblefield (born 16 February 2001) is a professionalfootballer who plays as afull-back forPortland Thorns of theNational Women's Soccer League (NWSL). Born in the United States, Reyes plays for theMexico national team. She playedcollege soccer for theAlabama Crimson Tide and was drafted fifth overall by the Thorns in the2023 NWSL Draft.
Reyes was born and raised inGarland, Texas, to a Mexican father and an American mother.[3] She attendedNaaman Forest High School in Garland.[3]
Reyes committed to playcollege soccer for the University of Alabama, making her debut for theCrimson Tide on 23 August 2019 in a 1–0 defeat vs. BYU.[4] Reyes was a key member of a formidable Alabama team, which included:Felicia Knox,Ashlynn Serepca,Riley Parker andRiley Tanner.
On 12 January 2023,Portland Thorns FC of theNational Women's Soccer League selected Reyes with the fifth overall pick in the2023 NWSL Draft.[5] However, she was prohibited by league rules from negotiating a contract until she was sufficiently recovered from a preseason injury to train with the Thorns.
On 25 March 2023, Reyes signed a two-year contract with an option for a third year with Thorns FC.[6] She made her professional debut as a 90th-minute substitute on 1 April 2023 against theKansas City Current.[7] On 26 May 2023, Reyes scored her first professional goal in a 1–1 draw againstSan Diego Wave FC.[8]
On 11 October 2024, Reyes assistedMorgan Weaver from a corner kick to open a 2–0 victory over theOrlando Pride, helping hand the league leaders their first loss of the season.[9]
Reyes represented Mexico at twoFIFA U-17 Women's World Cup editions (2016 and2018), the2018 CONCACAF Women's U-17 Championship, the2019 Sud Ladies Cup and the2020 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship.[2] She made her senior debut on 24 February 2021 in a 0–0 friendly home draw againstCosta Rica.[10][11]
