It was entered into the1949 Cannes Film Festival.[1] It was shot at theFrancoeur Studios inParis. The film's sets were designed by theart directorRobert-Jules Garnier. The film was selected for screening as part of the Cannes Classics section at the2016 Cannes Film Festival.[2] It had its New York premiere in 2018. TheNew York Times said it was "superabundant in charm, wit and soul".[3]
Jazz cornetistRex Stewart makes a cameo appearance as well.[3]
