Rembrandt is a 1942German historical drama film directed byHans Steinhoff and starringEwald Balser,Hertha Feiler,Gisela Uhlen, andAribert Wäscher.^[1] It was based on the novelZwischen Hell und Dunkel byValerian Tornius and depicts the life of the Dutch painterRembrandt.

The film's sets were designed by theart director Walter Röhrig. It was shot at theTempelhof andBabelsberg Studios inBerlin.Location shooting took place inGerman-occupied Amsterdam and theCinetone Studios in the city were also used.
