Vernon Reginald Pinkney (born May 27, 1955) is an American former professionalfootballdefensive back. He played five seasons in theNational Football League (NFL), two with theDetroit Lions and three with theBaltimore Colts.[1] Pickney was selected by the Lions in the sixth round of the1977 NFL draft, after an All-Conference career atEast Carolina University.
Pinkney was born St. Louis, Missouri, but grew up inFort Bragg, North Carolina. He is the father of Patrick Pinkney, formerquarterback at East Carolina, andAaron Curry, former linebacker of theOakland Raiders.[2]
