Real Colorado Cougars were an Americanwomen's soccer team, founded in 2000 and disestablished in February 2010.[1][2]
The team was a member of theUnited Soccer LeaguesW-League, the second tier ofwomen's soccer in the United States and Canada. The team played in the Western Conference against theColorado Force,LA Strikers,Pali Blues,Santa Clarita Blue Heat,Seattle Sounders Women,Vancouver Whitecaps, andVictoria Highlanders Women.[3] From 2001–2005, the team was known as theDenver Lady Cougars, and in 2000 the team was known as theColorado Gold.[4] The Cougars were a sibling side of the men'sReal Colorado Foxes team, which joined theUSL Premier Development League in 2009.[3]
Both teams were part of the Real Colorado organization, whose youth clubs survived the folding of both men's and women's adult clubs.Colorado Rush, a new W-League club founded in 2010, succeeded the Cougars as the Denver area's presence in the W-League.[1][2]
The team played its home games atShea Stadium inHighlands Ranch, Colorado, 25 miles south of downtownDenver.[3]
The club's colors were gold, black, and white.
