American sculptor and architect (born 1943)
Raymond Kaskey (born 1943) is an Americansculptor andarchitect , best known forPortlandia and his contributions to theWorld War II Memorial .[ 1]
Born inPittsburgh, Pennsylvania , he received a bachelor's degree in architecture fromCarnegie Mellon University (1967)[ 2] and a Master of Environmental Design degree fromYale University (1969). A fellow of theAmerican Institute of Architects , he received the Henry Hering Medal from theNational Sculpture Society forPortlandia .[ 3] [ 4]
Kaskey has threatened and taken legal action against unauthorized users of his work; his defense ofPortlandia 's copyright has been blamed for the sculpture's relative lack of prominence in popular culture and souvenirs of Portland.[ 5]
