Liquidambar excelsa, therasamala, is a species of flowering plant in the familyAltingiaceae.[1][2]
It is native toTibet andYunnan in China, Bhutan, India (Assam), Bangladesh, andSoutheast Asia, including westernMalesia.[3] A tree reaching 60 m (200 ft), it is typically found in wet tropical forests at elevations from 550 to 1,700 m (1,800 to 5,600 ft).[1]
