Randi Luther Pereira-Patterson (born 16 April 1985), known asRandi Patterson, is afootballer who plays as aforward. Born in the United States, he has been a member of theTrinidad and Tobago national team.
Patterson spent four seasons at theUniversity of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he was a two-timeSouthern Conference Player of the Year andNational Soccer Coaches Association of AmericaAll-American selection. He finished his college career with 61 goals and 19 assists. Patterson grew up inTeaneck, New Jersey, raised by his mother after his father was killed in a car accident when he was two years old, and attendedBergen Catholic High School inOradell, New Jersey, whom he led to the 1999 state championship.[1][2][3] During his college years he also played withCarolina Dynamo of theUSL Premier Development League, scoring 15 goals in his 14 games in 2006.
New York Red Bulls selected Patterson with its first round pick in the2007 MLS Supplemental Draft in January 2007.[4] He was waived on February 18, 2008.[5]
In March 2008, he scored on his debut for Charleston Battery againstToronto FC in the Carolina Challenge Cup[6] In the fall of 2008, he joined the Chicago Storm of theXtreme Soccer League, and played for them during the outdoor offseason, before re-joining Charleston prior to the 2009 USL1 season.
Patterson's father, Earl Pereira, was born inTrinidad, Trinidad and Tobago.[7] He made his debut for theSoca Warriors in a March 2008 friendly match againstEl Salvador.[8]
