TheRampur Greyhound or the "Rampur Hound" is a largebreed ofsighthound native to theRampur region of NorthernIndia, which lies betweenDelhi andBareilly. It is believed the Rampur Greyhound descends from earlyTazys, with their present-day appearance due to extensive crosses to theGreyhound in the 19th century to improve the breed's speed.[1][2][3] The Rampur Greyhound is a short haired, powerfully built sighthound that resembles theSloughi in appearance. It is rarely seen outside of its native land where it is retained as acoursing dog and is rarely kept as a companion.[2][3][4]
