Pasupuleti Ramesh Naidu (1933–1987) was an Indian music composer, multi instrumentalist, and singer known for his works predominantly inTelugu cinema. He garnered theNational Film Award for Best Music Direction for the filmMeghasandesam in 1982.[1] He won threeNandi Awards. He also worked forBengali,Nepali,Kannada, andOriya films.[2]
He was associated primarily with directors likeDasari Narayana Rao,Vijaya Nirmala andJandhyala.[2] His major works includeSivaranjani (1978),Ananda Bhairavi (1983),Srivariki Premalekha (1984), andSwayamkrushi (1987).
Ramesh Naidu was born inKondapalli inKrishna District ofAndhra Pradesh, India. At the age of fourteen, under the guidance of B. R. Chopra, Naidu got trained in music instrumentation and orchestration at the music companyHis Master's Voice. His debut film as a music director was for theMarathi filmBandval Pahija.[3]
Ramesh Naidu was first introduced toTelugu cinema inDampatyam (1957) byKrishnaveni. He moved toBombay again and later toCalcutta. He married aPunjabi woman, and worked for about ten years forBengali,Nepali andOriya films before returning to Telugu films with the filmAmma Mata in 1972.[4]
