Ram Kapoor ([raːmkəpuːr]; born 1 September 1973) is anIndian actor who primarily works inHindi films and television. One of the highest paid television actors in India,[1][2] he is known for portraying Jai Walia inKasamh Se and Ram Kapoor inBade Achhe Lagte Hain. He is a recipient of several awards including threeITA Awards and threeIndian Telly Awards.[3]
Kapoor made his onscreen debut with thetelevision serialNyaay (1999). He took up three more showsHeena (1998),Sangharsh (1999) andKavita (2000).
In 2000, Kapoor acted in popular family dramaGhar Ek Mandir[4]. Kapoor worked withAmir Raza Hussein once again in the playThe Fifty Days of War – Kargil which ran for 10 days inNew Delhi as a tribute to the heroes of theKargil War. Kapoor played five characters.[5]
In 2001, Kapoor acted inRishtey[6], in the serialKabhi Aaye Na Judaai[7] and made a cameo appearance inMira Nair's filmMonsoon Wedding.[8]
He went on to appear in films likeDhadkan (2003) andAwaz - Dil Se Dil Tak, followed byHazaaron Khwaishein Aisi andBali (2004), atelefilm in which he played Prithvi Singh. In 2005, Kapoor's was seen in films likeDevaki,[9]Kal: Yesterday and Tomorrow andMissed Call.
In 2006, he starred in the showKasamh Se in the role ofJai Udai Walia[10]. Kapoor was then seen in the soap operaBasera and participated in two reality shows:Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa as a participant andRakhi Ka Swayamwar as the host.
Kapoor appeared in minor roles in two films in 2010. The first was the commercially successfulKarthik Calling Karthik, with Kapoor playing the role of Kamath Sir. The second,Udaan, was a critically acclaimed and award-winning film directed by Vikrmaditya Motwane and was produced byAnurag Kashyap.
In 2011, he starred on the TV showBade Achhe Lagte Hain and played the male protagonist Ram Amarnath Kapoor. He appeared inBollywood moviesAgent Vinod (2012),Student of the Year (2012) andHumshakals (2014).

Kapoor met actressGautami Gadgil in 2000 on the set ofGhar Ek Mandir.[11] After dating for two years, the couple got married on 14 February 2003. They are parents to two children.[12] He is an ethnicPunjabi Hindu.

Kapoor established himself among the leading and highest-paid actors of Hindi television.[1][2] In 2014, he was placed sixth inRediff.com's "Top Television Actors" list.[13]
