Ram Bahadur Thapa (Nepali:राम बहादुर थापा), also widely known by his nom de guerre Badal, is aNepali politician and formerMinister for Home Affairs.[2][3][4] He is the vice president ofCPN (UML).[5]

Political life

Before the establishment of theNepal Communist Party, he was General Secretary of theCommunist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre).[6] He was formerly the member ofNational Assembly fromBagmati Province.

Thapa was theMinister for Defence during theKatawal incident, which led to the resignation ofPushpa Kamal Dahal.[7]

Thapa led a group of MPs, MLAs and fellow leaders who joinedCPN (UML) leavingCPN (Maoist Centre) following the split inNepal Communist Party.[8]
