Rajampeta is a town inAnnamayya district of the Indian state ofAndhra Pradesh, located in theRayalaseema Region formed on the banks ofCheyyeru River. The town has an average elevation of 139 meters (456 ft).

Rajampet is anAssembly constituency,Lok Sabha constituency,Annamayya district, and a Forest Headquarters.[3] It is located in Rajampet mandal ofRajampeta revenue division. It is bordered byTirupati to the south,Nellore to the east,Sri Sathya Sai to the west, andYSR district to the north.

Rajampet is amunicipality of area 35.87 square kilometres (13.85 sq mi) in Annamayya District (formerly Kadapa District). Rajampet was agram panchayat before 2005 and upgraded toNagar Panchayat on 2 April 2005 up to an area of 20.60 km2 (7.95 sq mi) and in 2017 upgraded as municipality.[4][5] It consists of 29 election wards.[6] In 2019 this town was upgraded into a Grade II Municipality which is headed by aMunicipal Chairman and governed by aMunicipal Commissioner.

Rajampet is aLok sabhaconstituency since 1957 and it is a Lok Sabha constituency of the twenty-five lok sabha constituencies from Andhra Pradesh in India and only one Parliamentary Constituency in the district.

CurrentlyP.V Midhun ReddyMember of Parliament (India) of YSR Congress Party won fromRajampet (Lok Sabha constituency) from General elections held on 2024.

Akepati Amarnath Reddy is the presentMember of Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the Rajampet Assembly constituency for theYSR Congress Party.[7]
