TheRaghupathi Venkaiah Award is an award issued by the Indian state government ofAndhra Pradesh to recognise lifetime achievements inTelugu cinema. The award was introduced in 1981 in honour ofRaghupathi Venkaiah Naidu, one of India's film pioneers regarded as the "father ofTelugu cinema".[2][3] The winner is presented a GoldenNandi (named after a bull in Hindu mythology), a gold medal, a citation and a cash prize of50,000 (US$590) at theNandi Awards functions.
