Radhikapur railway station servesRadhikapur in theUttar Dinajpur district, West Bengal, India. It is an active rail transit system on theBangladesh–India border.[1][2] It is an India–Bangladesh landborder checkpoint and has a land customs station for movement of goods.[3] Both Indian and Bangladesh governments have been trying to increase connectivity through Radhikapur.[4]

History

Assam Behar State Railway extended themetre-gauge railway fromParbatipur, now in Bangladesh, toKatihar in 1889.[5]In 1948–50, as a part of the Assam Rail Link project, theFakiragramKishanganj sector was connected to theNorth Eastern Railway network atBarsoi.[6][7] The railway lines in the area started being converted to5 ft 6 in (1,676 mm)broad gauge from the early 1960s.[7] The Barsoi–Radhikapur sector was converted to broad gauge in 2006.[8]Recorded trade volume in FY 2018-19 was INR 21 crores.[9]Freight train services resumed in Feb, 2025 after several months of disruption since 2024.[10]
