TheRabiusa (Romansh:Rabiosa,[1] i.e. "Raging", in the local German dialectRii,[2] i.e. "Rhine") is a 32 km long tributary of theRhine. The river originates in the districtHinterrhein in the canton ofGraubünden, in the mountains surrounding the Bärenhorn (2929 m), where the oldbridle path fromSafien toSplügen crosses theSafierberg Pass (2486 m). It then flows through the woodedSafien valley and into the roughVersam Gorge, where it is spanned by theVersam Gorge Bridge. The confluence with theAnterior Rhine is located in the equally deepRuinaulta.
The Carnusbach flows into the Rabiusa in a hamlet above the village of Safien-Platz.
TheWalser village ofSafien is the only municipality on the river.
