Račice (German:Ratschitz) is a municipality and village inLitoměřice District in theÚstí nad Labem Region of theCzech Republic. It has about 400 inhabitants. It is a majorrowing andflatwater canoeing venue.
The name is derived from the personal nameRadek, meaning "the village of Radek's people". It was originally written as Radčice.[2]
Račice is located about 17 kilometres (11 mi) southeast ofLitoměřice, 31 km (19 mi) southeast ofÚstí nad Labem and 39 km (24 mi) north ofPrague. It lies in theLower Ohře Table. The municipality is situated in a meander of theElbe River on its left bank, and the river forms part of the municipal border.
The first written mention of Račice is from 1268.[2]

The railway line from Prague to Ústí nad Labem runs through the municipality, but there is no train station. The municipality is served by the station in the neighbouring village of Hněvice (part ofŠtětí).

Račice is the majorrowing andflatwater canoeing venue in the country. The municipality hosted the1993 World Rowing Championships, the2006 and2015 Canoe Sprint European Championships, the2017 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships, and the2017 European Rowing Championships. More recently the venue hosted the2022 World Rowing Championships.[5]
There are nocultural monuments in the municipality.[6]
