RU-58642 is anonsteroidal antiandrogen (NSAA) derived fromnilutamide with very highaffinity andselectivity for theandrogen receptor (AR), which made it among the mostpotent andefficacious antiandrogens known at the time of its discovery.[1] It was investigated fortopical application for the treatment ofandrogenetic alopecia (male-pattern baldness), but development did not proceed past initial trial stages, and it is now only used forscientific research into the AR.[2][3]
