Răcari is a town located inDâmbovița County,Muntenia,Romania. It administers seven villages: Bălănești, Colacu, Ghergani, Ghimpați, Mavrodin, Săbiești, and Stănești. It was declared a town in 2004.
The town is located in the southeastern part of the county, 40 km (25 mi) northwest ofBucharest, on roadDN7. It lies in theWallachian Plain, at an altitude of 140 m (460 ft), and is traversed by the riversColentina andIlfov. Răcari borders the followingcommunes:Bilciurești andCojasca to the north,Tărtășești andCiocănești to the south,Butimanu to the east, andConțești andCornățelu to the west.
