TheQassab (Urdu:قصاب; from theArabic:قصاب,romanizedqaṣāb, meaningbutcher), are members of anorth Indian community orbiradari.

History and origin

For their participation in theIndian Rebellion of 1857, a fine ofRs. 63,000 was imposed on the people ofRohtak who were mostlyRanghars,Shaikhs andMuslim Qassab.[1]
