Qaimkhani (also spelledQayam Khani,Kayamkhani or asKaimkhani) is aMuslim community ofIndia. Most of them migrated to the southern part ofSindh inPakistan after partition. They were notable for ruling theFatehpur andJhunjhunu regions ofRajasthan from the 1300s to the 1700s.[1][2]
They claime to be descended fromChauhan Rajputs who converted fromHinduism toIslam in the 14th century during the reign ofFiruz Shah Tughlaq.[3][4] As also stated by the historianDirk H. A. Kolff that the Qaimkhanis haveTurkic origins.[5]
They ruled between 1384 and 1731 withFatehpur, Rajasthan as the capital, Kayamkhanis ruled inAlipura,Fatehpur,Jhunjhunu andSinghana.[6][need quotation to verify]
