Football Club Bekasi City orFC Bekasi City is an Indonesian professionalfootball club based inBekasi,West Java that competes inChampionship and play their home match atPatriot Chandrabaga Stadium.[1]
In 2014,Putra Ijen FC was established inJember. The club was established in order to participate inLiga 3 East Java.[2][3]
In 2018,Putra Sinar Giri FC began participating in the East Java League 3 competition after buying a license from the club fromJember, Putra Ijen FC. The club moved its base from Jember toGresik. PSG Gresik then promptly joined Liga 3 East Java in2018.[4]They won Liga 3 East Java for the first time in their history after beatingPerseta Tulungagung 5–3 in penalty shootout.[5]
In 2020,PSG Pati began participating in theLiga 2 after Saiful Arifin bought the club's license fromGresik,Putra Sinar Giri FC. The club then moved its base toPati.[6][7]
In 2021,Atta Halilintar and Putra Siregar bought the majority stake ofPSG Pati and changed the club's name toAHHA PS Pati.[8] The club then participated in2021–22 Liga 2 and barely avoided relegation back to the Liga 3.
In 2022, they decided to move their homebase fromPati toBekasi and rebranded the club asBekasi FC.[9] For next season, Bekasi FC will use thePatriot Candrabhaga Stadium, hoping that the new homebase can make the club more successful.[10]
However, the name Bekasi FC has been trademarked by a man named Erick, who promptly filed a lawsuit regarding the usage of the Bekasi FC brand.[11] This forced the club to change their name once again intoFC Bekasi City, which was ratified in the 2022 PSSI Ordinary Congress.[12]
