Stevia-based sugar substitute

PureVia is astevia-based low caloriesugar substitute developed jointly byPepsiCo andWhole Earth Sweetener Company which is a wholly owned subsidiary of artificial sweetener manufacturing companyMerisant.[1]

It is currently distributed and marketed byWhole Earth Sweetener Company as a tabletopsweetener and as a food ingredient. PureVia competes againstCoca-Cola andCargill's jointly developedTruvia brand of stevia-extract sweetener andCumberland Packing Corporation's 'Stevia in the Raw' stevia-extract sweetener.

Ingredients and Safety

PureVia is a blend of several different ingredients. It containsdextrose,natural flavors as well as the stevia extractrebaudioside A.[2]

TheFood and Drug Administration (FDA) determined in December 2008 that rebaudioside A is safe for inclusion as a food additive.[3]

PureVia is used as a sweetener inSoBe Lifewater which is manufactured byPepsiCo. It is also used inTrop50 andGatorade G2.
