Ernest John "Pug" Rentner (September 18, 1910 – August 24, 1978) was anAmerican footballhalfback andquarterback who played professionally in theNational Football League (NFL) for theBoston Redskins and theChicago Bears. He was inducted into theCollege Football Hall of Fame in 1979.
Rentner attended theFarragut School inJoliet, Illinois.[1]
Rentner playedcollege football atNorthwestern University and was chosen to the1931 College Football All-America Team. He was selected as Northwestern'sMost Valuable Player in 1932.[1]
