For the Streptococcal superantigen SpeA, also referred to asexotoxin A, seeErythrogenic toxin.

ThePseudomonas exotoxin (orexotoxin A) is anexotoxin produced byPseudomonas aeruginosa.[1]Vibrio cholerae produces a similar protein called theCholix toxin (Q5EK40).[2]

It inhibitselongation factor-2. It does so byADP-ribosylation of EF2 usingNAD+. This then causes the elongation of polypeptides to cease. This mechanism is similar to that ofdiphtheria toxin.[3]

It has been investigated as a treatment forhepatitis B[4] and cancer.[5]
