Prymnessus orPrymnessos (Ancient Greek:Πρύμνησσος), orPrymnesus orPrymnesos (Πρύμνησος),[1] orPrymnesia (Πρυμνησία) was a town ofancient Phrygia. Its site is located nearSülün inAsiatic Turkey.[2][3]
The town was inhabited duringRoman andByzantine times.[2] It was the see of a Christian bishop. No longer the seat of a residential bishop, it remains atitular see of theRoman Catholic Church.[4]
Themartyr and saintAriadne of Phrygia lived here according to hervita.[5][6]
