Prostanozol, also known asdemethylstanozolol tetrahydropyran ether, is anandrogen/anabolic steroid (AAS) anddesigner steroid which acts as aprodrug of the 17α-demethylatedanalogue ofstanozolol (Winstrol). It was found in 2005 as an ingredient of products sold as "dietary supplements" forbodybuilding.[1]
It is one of hundreds of drugs banned from theOlympics by theIOC.[2]Russian marathon runnerLyubov Denisova was banned for two years from competition after testing positive for prostanozol and testosterone in 2007.[3]
