Prologue was a publication of the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). The publication's articles are based on NARA's holdings and programs and material from the regional archives and thepresidential libraries across theUnited States.[1]

The magazine was founded byJames B. Rhoads, fiftharchivist of the United States.[2] The first issue ofPrologue appeared in Spring 1969.[2] The periodical's headquarters is inAtlanta, Georgia.[3] The magazine ceased print publication in 2017.[4]
